Storm Ciarán has left a trail of destruction after it battered parts of southern England and the Channel Islands.

Thousands of homes across Devon and Cornwall, Sussex, Surrey and the Channel Islands lost power and hundreds of schools were closed as a precaution.

The storm caused flooding, damage to buildings and travel disruption.
